Four finals and 38 camera positions | 08.02.12

tv reko 12 1akNine years after the first orienteering live coverage in Swiss TV at the World Championships in Rapperswil-Jona, this years' championships will see an even bigger TV production. For the four finals at total of 38 camera positions is planned.

Despite the very cold wheather conditions representatives from SRG SSR (the Swiss national public TV) and from the organising committee met at the finish areas for a first evaluation of camera positions and for the planning of the setup of the production infrastructure. First decisions could be taken and some amendments summarised in order to discuss it with the course setters.

As the visit of the control positions in the forests was not possible due to the snow - in addition for camera allocations the vegetation should be almost at the same level of the event time - the concept evaluation for the sprint final in Lausanne progressed very well. Producer Beat Zumstein an director Armin Fankhauser - both already involved in the WOC 2003 - decided about the course parts where a coverage will be interesting from a TV point of view as well as from an orienteering aspect.

The Swiss broadcasting company SRG SSR signed a contract as „Official Broadcaster“. It is foreseen to have live coverage of sprint final and relay in the German channel of Swiss public TV. The finals of middle and long distance will be produced on a reduced level for the video wall and the internet live stream.
